AC Not Working? Here Are 3 Common Reasons For This Interruption

Herbert Franklin

The thought of having a faulty AC when the weather is extremely hot can be very unwelcoming. AC appliance failure may result from different evitable causes like your negligence to inevitable causes like old age. Whatever the case, engage an AC repair technician because they perfectly understand how  ACs operate and consequently can easily find out the problem that your cooling appliance could be having.

Here are three probable reasons why you have a malfunctioned air conditioner.

You Have a Failed Compressor

The compressor is a fundamental part of your cooling appliance. Should it malfunction, you will experience problems maintaining the right temperature. This happens because it cannot condense the refrigerant as it should. If the AC compressor is the problem, you will experience issues like regular circuit breaker tripping and weird noises. You may also realize moisture around your unit. If you've seen all these, call your repair expert to analyze the issue and advise on the best remedy.

Faulty Thermostat

A defective thermostat will cause your air cooling appliance to short cycle, which can be annoying. A faulty thermostat can also lead to a scenario where your AC runs constantly, yet the thermostat doesn't respond to temperature control. Depending on the severity of the issue, the appliance may also refuse to activate. If you're familiar with your AC, you can check whether the fan is on or off. If it is set to on, change it to auto and observe whether the thermostat responds to temperature change. If it doesn't, contact your technician for an urgent fix or thermostat replacement.

Frozen Coils

Frozen evaporator coils are an essential part of your AC. They absorb heat from the air to be cooled, allowing cold air to diffuse into the room. If frozen, their performance diminishes instantly. Your AC coils may freeze when you don't clean your filters, refrigerant leaks, or have blocked condensate lines. Upon the coils freezing, your AC will run without cool air flowing out into your space. A good AC repair technician will fix ice issues on the internal and external coils.

Troubleshooting your AC may be straightforward or complicated, depending on the intensity of the problem. You should know your capacity in diagnosis and problem-solving to avoid causing further damage. If the issue is a minor thing that you can resolve, do it and enjoy controlled temperatures. However, safety should be your priority to avoid hurting yourself; hence always call in an AC repair expert to restore unit functionality.
