Capacitors are small electricity storage devices that can help your HVAC unit with a boost at startup or while running to prevent unexpected shutdowns due to power interruptions. Capacitors come in either the start capacitor or run capacitor variety and separate capacitor sets can exist in both your air conditioner and your furnace. The condenser coils on a central air conditioner take in refrigerant from the compressor then change the refrigerant into a liquid to send inside and finish the cooling process. If the condenser coils become dirty, the phase change can become compromised and your unit will lose efficiency. You can clean the coils yourself using a commercial coil cleaner available at most hardware stores. If you want to make sure your entire unit is properly cleaned and calibrated, call an HVAC repair company, such as Soco Air Conditioning, for a checkup.

Having pests is no fun, whether they're in your ducts, your attic, or your crawlspace. Although HVAC pests can happen to anybody, there's a much higher risk of succumbing to an infestation of mice or roaches running around in your ducts if you fit one of these three criteria.
